P2C All Systems Go! 19/10/08
ITT 8 km, Riverside, Tuesday 14 October 2008
P2C All Systems Go!
Mildura-Coomealla Cycling Club staged an 8 km individual time trial at its Riverside circuit on the evening of Tuesday 14 October. The Club welcomed returning member Les Jordan, who formed part of the 26 strong starting field. The weather conditions for the evening were fine, with a blustery southerly wind keeping the temperature to a mild 21 degrees Celsius.
Chris Parrott rolled out the latest in the speed weapons war, a Cervélo P2C TT machine that he had taken delivery of only 3 hours prior to the start of the event. Parrott had a work commitment at 7.00 pm and asked the starter if he could leave the starting gate first. With only 30 second intervals between the riders, Parrott blasted his new machine around the course, finishing just as the 10:30 minute rider in Adrian Lloyd was starting. Lloyd must have wondered what thundered past him as he was trying to crank his bike up to speed! Needless to say that Parrott’s official time of 10:33 minutes was a new personal best, one of nine set on the evening, and only 6 seconds slower than the course record. Kevin Tankard had better watch out!
Other notable rides were achieved by Martin Ryan, Thomas Henderson, Megan Hale, Alana Hale, Jess Butler and Mark Phillips, all of whom sliced at least 20 seconds off their previous PB time.
Thanks to Julieanne Ryan, Penny Hale, Barry Pollock, Mark Phillips and Tom Athorn for helping out. The next event is a graded criterium, to be held at the Airport Circuit on Sunday 19 October.
