PB Night 16 December 2008

Mildura-Coomealla Cycling Club staged its final event before the traditional Christmas/New Year break, an 8 km individual time trial at its Riverside circuit. Thirty one riders lined up to battle the clock, with bonus race points on offer for those scoring an elusive PB.

With a light westerly wind blowing across the course, conditions were neutral on the night. Eleven riders set new PB’s, including Dean Taylor and Gary Henderson who both went under the magic 11 minute barrier. Pete Mulhearn, riding in his last event with the Club, had a goal of bettering Club President Richard Hale on the night. He managed to do it by just 0.4 second after Hale equalled his own PB for this distance! Chris Parrott set the fastest time of the evening, stopping the clock at 10:23 minutes, just 3 seconds off his course record. Fastest junior on the night was Ben Athorn at 13:32 minutes.

Thanks to Lauren Behan, Ellen Fraser, Julie Simpson, Trevor Burge and Ken Dean for helping out. A Christmas hamper draw was held on the night and Julie Simpson had the honour of drawing out the winning name … none other than Club President Richard Hale! Members are reminded that a farewell function will be held for Peter Mulhearn at the Mildura Bowling Club on Sunday 21 October starting at 3 pm.
