Spring Tour Results

The 2011 Spring Tour was run today on the Riverside circuit.  As usual the event was a two stage format with the first stage being a 16 km ITT (8 km juniors) and the second stage a 40 km handicap road race (24 km juniors).  Twenty seven senior riders and three juniors lined up for the race, which was held in warm conditions.  The temperature hit the 30 degrees Celsius mark by the time the road race started, with the heat being fanned by a strengthening northerly wind.

Points were awarded to riders based on their finishing place in each stage, with 3 bonus points being awarded to those riders who set a new personal best time for the ITT.  As it turned out, only Yap Williams and Megan Hale managed to set new PB's on the day.  Fastest time for the road race would also attract 3 bonus points, if the fastest rider finished outside of the first three places.  Kev Tankard won the road race and set fastest time so he missed out on the extra points!
