Club Championship 2011 Results
The MCCC 2011 Club Championship was run at Riverside on Saturday 30 July. With damp roads and a threatening sky, 18 senior and four junior riders contested the Club's premier event. The senior riders had to complete eight laps of the long course, whilst the juniors rode over three laps. The first lap was neutralised for seniors and the juniors rode under neutral conditions for the first 3 km.
The senior race was characterised by numerous attacks but none were successful in establishing a winning break. At the start of the final lap there were still 12 riders together to contest a bunch sprint finish. Dean Taylor proved to have the fastest legs on the day and emerged a clear winner from Ben Nicholson and Gary Henderson. Taylor has finally put his name on a Club race trophy!
In the junior race Thomas Allford proved too strong for his fellow competitors, eventually dropping his breakaway companion Nathan Jordan and riding solo to victory.
Congratulations to both riders!
