Executive Committee and Racing Officials - Call for Nominations 14/08/07

As the Winter season draws to a close it is time to start thinking about the Club’s Annual General Meeting, which will again be held in conjunction with the Winter season presentations on Saturday 15 September at the Coomealla Club. One of the main functions of the AGM is to elect the office bearers and racing officials for 2008. This year all positions will be declared vacant at the meeting and we are currently seeking nominations for the following Executive Committee positions (the current incumbents are shown in brackets):
• President (Richard Hale); • Vice President (Tom Athorn); • Secretary (Pete Mulhearn); • Assistant Secretary (Ian Brade); • Treasurer (Greg Scott); and • Five other Executive Committee members (Harry Robbins, Jeff Mitchell, Dave Digby & Errol Schmidt).
The President and Secretary are elected for two year terms, and all other officers are elected for one year. The Executive Committee generally meets once a month (second Monday) for about two hours. Items that the Executive Committee deals with include the Club financials, planning & budgeting, sponsorships and fundraising, developing the racing programs and general Club business.
We also need to fill the following racing official roles (current incumbents shown in brackets):
• Chief Handicapper (Kevin Tankard); • Two Assistant Handicappers (Dave Priest & Michael Murdoch); • Race Secretary (Penny Hale); • Seven Race Panel members (Barry Pollock, Arthur Anderson, Joe Monteleone, Ben Nicholson, Chris Westwood, Kevin Tankard & Michael Murdoch); • Club Coach (must hold a cycling coaching qualification); and • Publicity Officer (Peter Winton).
All nominees will be put to a vote of members at the AGM and all retiring officials are eligible for re-election. If you are interested in being involved in the running of your Club then please send me your nomination for the role that interests you. If you would like to nominate another a member for a particular role, then please do so, but check that it is OK with the member concerned first. Nominations close 5.00 pm Friday 7 September 2007 and can be sent via email to info@m-ccc.com.au or by snail mail to PO Box 1355 Mildura 3502 (Attention: Secretary).
