History

Competitive cycling in Sunraysia goes back more than a century. At one time there was a cycling club in every town in the district!

After the dismantling of the cycling track at Mildura’s Number One oval, cycling suffered a downturn in interest. The Mildura Cycling Club, however, remained alive.

The dismantling of the cycling track was done with the understanding that alternate facilities would be developed, however this never occurred. The Club conducts races on local roads and on the closed Auslink airport circuit.

In the early 1980’s Club officials associated the Club with the Coomealla Memorial Sporting Club. This relationship with the NSW-licensed Memorial Club remains to this day with the name “Mildura” added acknowledging the rich history of cycling in the Mildura district.

Mildura’s competitive cyclists regularly compete in Cycling South Australia’s Open events and maintain a cordial racing relationship with our closest sister Club, the Riverland Cycling Club.

The club has nurtured some very talented cyclists on their paths to becoming successful professional cyclists, competing internationally.
